This course is aimed at experienced veterinary nurses wishing to learn more about the management of orthopaedic and soft tissue trauma and to enhance their understanding and nursing skills. The lectures will cover the management of fractures and wounds in detail. There will be discussion of the nurses' role in the management of these cases. This will include both nursing the animals in the ward and assisting in theatre.

The course will consist of lectures including:
• Principles of fracture fixation
• Internal and external fracture fixation
• Management of the trauma patient
• Wounds and dressings

There will be a practical "dry" lab where delegates will be able to learn and practice the application of bone plates and screws. This will help delegates to gain a better understanding of fracture repair. The day will finish with discussion of a number of trauma cases.
