The course will consist of webinars, reading material, case assessments, reference critiques and discussion activities online. Webinars will be recorded to be made available for participants to view later if not able to view 'live'. Participants can earn up to 36 CPD hours if the course is completed fully.
Schedule:
Week 1 - Introduction to the course and fundamentals of anaesthesia (to include pre-anaesthetic assessment, selecting sedatives and premeds)
Week 2 - Anaesthesia of the healthy patient (including patient support and selecting anaesthetic protocols)
Week 3 - Advanced analgesia in practice (local anaesthesia, using infusions, managing difficult painful patients, chronic pain)
Week 4 - Introducing challenging anaesthetics and controversies: things that can go wrong! Small furries, development of critical analysis of scientific papers
Week 5 - Support of the critical patient under anaesthesia: blood pressure monitoring, fluid therapy, using colloids, blood products, ventilation
Week 6 - Anaesthesia for the critical patient: anaesthetizing challenging cases, case based discussions of particular challenges (eg neuro cases, septic patients, neonates etc.)
An optional practical day is available on Friday 30th March, with a cost of £299 to attend. Programme details to be confirmed.
